Hall & Prior honoured to receive a Better Practice Award
Hall & Prior are proud to announce that it has been awarded a Better Practice Award for its Pain Management Program that was implemented in both Caroline Chisholm and Sirius Cove homes.
The Better Practice Awards are annual awards presented by the
Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency for any projects,
initiatives or programs that act as exemplars for other aged care
homes to assist and encourage improved care and services for
residents. It is a great honour for Hall & Prior to receive one
of these awards.
In March 2010, an evidenced based pain management initiative was
implemented in Caroline Chisholm and Sirius Cove, two of Hall
& Prior's six New South Wales homes, to maximise the
comfort and quality of life of its residents.
The results have been pleasing. Within one year of implementing
the program, 100 per cent of the residents from both
homes became participants. Six months after entering the
program, more than half of the residents experienced improved pain
rating and 30 per cent had unchanged pain levels despite 46 per
cent experiencing significant natural progression of a diagnosed
disease.
It is because of these positive outcomes that Hall & Prior
have been awarded a Better Practice Award from the Accreditation
Agency.
Hall & Prior Chief Executive Officer, Graeme Prior was very
pleased when he received the good news. "Ensuring that our homes
embody safety and comfort and offer choices in accommodation,
lifestyle and health services is what Hall & Prior pride itself
on", said Mr Prior.
"The care of our residents is our number one priority, to be
recognised by the Accreditation Agency for one of our programs that
we are so proud of, is a wonderful thing."
The Pain Management Program is being implemented throughout all
Hall & Prior homes in NSW, giving all residents the opportunity
to participate.
